Our Handmade Heroes donate their time to make the gorgeous handmade-items that we distribute to new families in hospital. Currently though, there is a need that is far more pressing, and you can help!
During this particularly difficult time, the NICU and SCN teams continue on the frontline providing our babies with the best possible care. Now it’s our time to say thanks. They need your help to make up drawstring bags.
A bag may seem like a small gesture, but it’s a big (healthy distancing) hug to those who really need one right now.
Our community have developed a simple sewing pattern for drawstring bags made up for health care workers to carry their uniforms and a change of clothes as they travel to and from hospital. This will help them feel less vulnerable and eliminate unwarranted negative attention in the community. This is an anxious time for all of us and we believe that those risking their own lives to save ours also deserve protection.
If you have spare fabric at home, please consider making up some bags. We encourage you to be as creative as you like— add embellishments with messages of thanks, patterns and shapes, or even include a thank you letter inside the bag. Whatever you do, do it with heart!
