Life’s Little Treasures Foundation is a small charity doing a BIG job. For more than 10 years, we have supported the families of premature and sick babies and the demand for our services is increasing with prematurity rates on the rise. In Australia, more than 48,000 babies are admitted to Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) or Special Care Nurseries (SCN) every year.  Did you know, premature birth is Australia’s number one cause of deaths in newborns?  With the end of the financial year fast approaching we hope you will consider a donation to support these families

Sarah knows all too well the challenges of having a premature baby; she’s had 3.

Bentlee in the NICUUnlike many babies born this early, Bentlee was fortunate enough not to require oxygen support or any other procedures, his tiny body had responded well to the steroid injections Mum had before he was born. Bentlee’s difficulties really began when he went home.  Not only did he suffer from bad reflux, he was diagnosed with a condition, most commonly known as “failure to thrive”.  This meant his body was unable to absorb any nutrients. Sarah credits Life’s Little Treasures Foundation for supporting her through one of her toughest times.

“Life’s Little Treasures Foundation was a fantastic help. I spent a lot of time asking other mums about Bentlee’s feeding problems and eventual diagnosis. This was an invaluable support that helped me through one of the hardest years of my life.

A premature baby is incredibly strong and their determination is amazing but the parents of these premature babies need help and support too, to help them find their way through either NICU or SCN and to continue on as the baby grows.”

“Without Life’s Little Treasures Foundation I don’t know where I would be.”
